Yesterday I made it back to the Atlanta Botanical Garden for the first time since I went there back in February for the orchid exhibit. I am wary of the company I bring there, mainly because I move slowly and take photos and look at things very deliberately but fortunately I have at least one person I can invite regularly who will put up with my quirks and seems to enjoy it when we go. We showed up in the middle of the afternoon when it was about 95 degrees and the humidity was around 50%. Apparently yesterday was a good day for a summer thunderstorm, unfortunately I didn’t check WeatherBug on the iPhone before leaving to make sure it was a good day to go out and shoot. Right now they are having the Sculpture In Motion exhibit, showcasing some interesting sculpture in the garden. Everything, from what I could tell, had some sort of swivel-action built in to the concept of the sculpture, so it keeps things quite dynamic while walking through the garden. It would be very easy to have random sculptures hanging out in the middle of the garden and make it look like garbage, fortunately the exhibit is very tasteful and interesting and doesn’t draw away from what most people expect when visiting a botanical garden.
On the music front, STS9 is coming to town this weekend, which means I’m going to have a plethora of people coming to town in the next few days, which should be interesting. For better or worse the job hunt is still going kind of slow, so I should have plenty of time to dedicate to hanging out with everybody as they get to town. Additionally, a couple people I know are starting a dubstep night in Atlanta which kicks off this evening. As somebody who enjoys and plays dubstep I will of course be out to check it out, and see what kind of dubstep scene Atlanta has beyond what I’ve seen playing a handful of times to a handful of people in quiet bars around town.
Hopefully this weekend will provide some interesting stories to put up here, its been much of the same lately… with Seth in town, one can only imagine at least one good story will come out of the weekend.
