Well, this is my personal blog so I shouldn’t feel too bad about talking about myself all the time here I guess? This past week was pretty long, I talked to an old friend I have not heard from in a while which was excellent; I am always a sucker for that kind of thing. Unfortunately over the past week I also somehow managed to forget how to fall asleep I think; I have been battling some weird insomniaish symptoms for the past few weeks trying to shake them. Fortunately it hasn’t resulted in me oversleeping or feeling unhealthy or anything like that, just the inconvenience of being up at odd hours of the night.
On Saturday night, we launched a new rightClique event called Cerebral Sabbath. I love playing dance music, but I feel like I’m more passionate about ambient and IDM music. I spent a lot of 2008 listening to Brian Eno, the ambient Aphex Twin albums, and Telefon Tel Aviv. Consequently, in talking to a lot of people I know who do music work around town, I found out I wasn’t the only one who was constantly listening to, and aspiring to perform in that style. Typically, most shows I play at have busy dance floors, and understandably when people are out and about don’t want to hear drumless drone-based music late on the weekends. To ensure the night keeps the right mindset, we have been fortunate enough to be able to partner with Octane Coffee here in Atlanta, allowing us to bring in elements of the 80 Megaton soundsystem so everything sounds spectacular, but, it being a coffee shop it never becomes unruly. There is something to be said about being able to go hear live music with friends in an environment that is conducive to being social. Thanks to everybody who came out to support the first one, it is honestly the first of many like it and I’m super-excited that my cohorts in rightClique are letting me take ownership of this event and mold it into something that already I’m super proud to be a part of. Be sure to check out the photos of the event as well.
Also one quick note on the topic of photos, IonPhotography will have a bunch of awesome photographs from Bass Recreation Soceity 3 that I’ll be putting up on the flickr here in the next few days… thanks to everybody for the patience with this one, and a big shot out to Evan at DataSavers LLC for recovering so much data!
Finally, the job has been busy lately as well; we are doing our migration from Small Business Server to Essential Business Server this week. We are maintaining a blog here at work, also on WordPress — and if you are interested in all in what I do at work, what RoseBud Technology is all about, enjoy my blogs in general, or have any interest in Windows Server 2008 products from Microsoft running in a Hyper-V environment I would recommend going over there and giving it a visit. We just started it recently so there is not a whole lot in the content department, but knowing I am involved, you can be sure it will be updated frequently and completely.
Until next time…
