I so desperately want to make a post about the economic state of this country, but I don’t have the time right now to sit down and succinctly write what I want to say, so instead I will save that soap-box rant for an upcoming post and instead subject you to the minutia of my day-to-day life.
Today is Day 2 of my week of classes in Crestron programming up here in Alpharetta. Today is more exciting than yesterday as the power has stayed on the whole time, and we are actually going over some of the applications used in programming as opposed to just reviewing the differences in the product line. I remember that being a significant portion of training at my last job so, that is to be expected. This all seems fun; I’m able to combine aspects of programming with A/V geekery however, I wish I had some of this ridiculous hardware in my condo so I could stay hands-on with it beyond the scope of the classroom and potentially finding contract programming work. One upside to coming up here is three free meals per day! I have yet to stay for dinner because usually about the time we get out I’m more interested in beating the traffic down 400 back into Buckhead than staying in the ‘burbs any longer.
This weekend was fairly action-packed, on Saturday I went to my first Ciderfest over in Decatur. Ciderfest is an annual fall festival held by a handful of friends here in Atlanta at the beginning of fall celebrated by them collecting hundreds of pounds of apples and making fresh cider. The cider was absolutely delicious; and I’m not a big cider drinker. I ended up mixing it with Firefly, which Brendan introduced me to last week, and I’ve become a huge fan of. As I only knew a handful of people at the party, I ended up not staying very long, and met up with some friends for sitting on the porch and drinking pitchers and enjoying the fall weather. Not surprisingly we ended up at the usual spot in the evening and ran into a friend who moved to NYC who I have not seen in over a year. Having no idea he was visiting made it quite a surprise, it’s always nice to catch up with worthwhile people.
I have been playing more music lately, and diversifying my playlist. I did a little demo-run last night at Pho Truc which was a ways out of town and totally quiet, but their PA was pretty solid. I got things almost where I want them which is good considering upon reading 404Audio last night I found out I am djing at Cenci again, this time a solo-shot and not with the Ponytail & Moustache team. Hopefully its as packed as it was last week, but less confrontational. I have some new more chiller stuff to try out. I just hope my mixing goes better than the other night at The Bench
One final note, the issues with exporting the Ponytail & Moustache DJ set from my birthday (and other previous sets) have finally been resolved. It was a pretty stupid oversight on my part however, the good news is I will finally have a live P&M set available for download. Be sure to watch this space for information on how to download it once it becomes available.
See you at Cenci tonight!
